Electric Motor Classifications

Sep 14, 2017

Electric Motor Classification

1.     Classification by working power

According to the different motor power supply can be divided into DC motor and AC motor. The AC motor is also divided into single-phase motor and three-phase motor.

2.     Classification by structure and working principle

According to the difference of motor structure and working principle, can be divided into DC motor, asynchronous motor and synchronous motor.

3.     Classification by start and run

According to the difference of motor starting and running, motors can be divided into capacitor starting single-phase asynchronous motor, capacitor running single-phase asynchronous motor and capacitor start running single-phase asynchronous motor.

4.     Classification by purpose

According to the motor purpose, motors can be divided into drive motor and control motor.

The drive motor is divided into electric tools electric motors (Including drilling, polishing, polishing, slotting, cutting, reaming and other tools) , Electric appliances for household appliances (Including washing machines, electric fans, refrigerators, air conditioners, tape recorders, video recorders, DVD players, vacuum cleaners, cameras, hair dryer, electric shavers, etc.) and other general small machinery and equipment electric motors (Including a variety of small machine tools, small machinery, medical equipment, electronic equipment).

Control motor is divided into stepper motor and servo motor.

5.     Classification by the structure of rotor

According to the different structure of the motor rotor, motors can be divided into cage induction motor (the old standard is called the squirrel cage type asynchronous motor) and wound rotor induction motor (the old standard is called a wound type asynchronous motor).
